SUMMARY:Presentation Abstract: How to Rule the High-Tech World Adding important tools to your high-tech toolbox.
DESCRIPTION:Presentation Abstract\nHow to Rule the High-Tech World\nAdding important tools to your high-tech toolbox.\n\nThe associated learning for earning skills is barely touched on in traditional post-\nsecondary Bachelor of Science engineering programs. Instead\, the focus has been\nalmost exclusively on teaching students learning for learning to solve the\nproblems at the end of the chapter.\nThis presentation will provide the role of emerging\, leading-edge technologies for\ncircuit boards and higher-level assemblies. You will learn about:\n1. 3-D Printing\,\n2. Digital Twinning\n3. Factory 4.0 (Meta Process Control)\,\n4. Artificial Intelligence\, Virtual & Augmented Reality\,\n5. Supply Chain Management (horizontal vs. vertical integration)\n6. Extreme Robotics & Automation.\nAnd finally\, a real-world example of Designing for Automation (DFA) will be\nprovided.\nVirtually ignored are critical thinking\, open-form problem solving (i.e.\, more\nunknowns than equations)\, and the other skills needed for success in the globally\ncompetitive real world. These educational programs are addressed\, and potential\nmethods to close this academic-to-real world gap are provided. \nThis will be a joint meeting with SME Tampa Bay\, Florida Suncoast Chapter 159\nof the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. \nRegister Here! \nSpeaker Biography\nTom Borkes \nTom Borkes is the Founder of The Jefferson Project. Its mission is to build and\nmaintain a world-class workforce for the domestic electronics industry while\nshowcasing state-of-the-art equipment and developing emerging assembly\ntechnologies. \nA graduate of Hofstra University with a B.S. in Engineering Science\, specializing\nin Mechanical Engineering\, Tom has over 35 years of technical and managerial\nexperience in electronic product design\, assembly\, test\, and manufacturing\nautomation with companies such as John & Johnson\, Philips Circuit Assemblies\,\nand Interconics.\nTom has also taught in an adjunct capacity for the engineering departments at the\nCity College of New York and Valencia Community College in Florida.\n
