These scholarships provide dedicated and deserving students with additional funding to assist in successfully transitioning from high school to technical institutes, community colleges, vocational schools, colleges, and universities.
Scholarships in the following amounts will be awarded:
High School: $1250 and $750
College/University: $1250 and $750
High School/College/University Student Eligibility:
SME Member in good standing (member number)
High School or College/University Student
500-word essay
State of Florida resident
Minimum GPA of 2.5 (unweighted) on a 4.0 scale
Academic reference
Applicants must also plan to pursue a career in manufacturing or related engineering field of studies such as Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Interested and qualified applicants should apply at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sme-tampa-bay-2020-student-scholarship-contest-tickets-122312681523 before 9:00 PM EST on Sunday, November 1, 2020. The application must include a 500 maximum word essay answering the question “Discuss the field of study you are or want to pursue and why. What are your educational and career goals? Please factor in the challenges created by COVID19 and how you would overcome them.” Winners will be notified by December 1st.
